The Journal of Popular Romance Studies (JPRS) seeks a Managing Editor for General Issues to join our editorial team. This is a volunteer position.
JPRS is a diamond open access, peer reviewed interdisciplinary journal exploring popular romance fiction and the logics, institutions, and social practices of romantic love in global popular culture.
The Managing Editor is responsible for:
- Overseeing all general submissions;
- Arranging peer review for all general submissions;
- Sending articles for copyediting and proofing;
- Managing the general issues email account;
- Liaising with the editorial board;
- Chairing editorial board meetings (quarterly);
- Attending the twice-yearly Editorial Board meeting.
Ideally, the role would be filled by someone with previous experience of editorial work at an academic journal (or equivalent). The current Managing Editor, Dr Amy Burge, would be happy to talk with anyone interested about the role and its duties.
Individuals are appointed to all roles at JPRS for a three-year term. Job-sharing between two people is permitted for all roles including this one. We estimate this role would require a commitment of 3-4 hours per week.
Please send any queries along with applications consisting of a covering letter (max 2 pages) and CV (max 3 pages) to the current Managing Editor for General Issues to Dr Amy Burge at managing.editor@jprstudies.org by 21 March 2025. In your covering letter, please outline why you are interested in the position, and any relevant experience.
