Journal of Popular Romance Studies—Associate Editors

The Journal of Popular Romance Studies (JPRS) seeks two Associate Editors to join our editorial team. This is a volunteer position.

JPRS is a diamond open access, peer reviewed interdisciplinary journal exploring popular romance fiction and the logics, institutions, and social practices of romantic love in global popular culture.

An Associate Editor is responsible for supporting and assisting the Editorial Team across a range of responsibilities. Typical duties might include:

  • Email organisation and management;
  • Formatting and typesetting articles;
  • Copyediting;
  • Publishing articles on the website;
  • Administrative organisation of issues;
  • Contributing to the planning and organisation of the journal.

In addition, the Associate Editor would be expected to attend editorial team meetings (up to four times per year) and Editorial Board meetings (up to twice per year).

This role would be well-suited to those without specific editorial experience but who would like to gain an insight into academic editorial roles.

Individuals are appointed to all roles at JPRS for a three-year term. Job-sharing between two people is permitted for all roles including this one. We estimate this role would require a commitment of 1-2 hours per week.

Please send any queries along with applications consisting of a covering letter (max 2 pages) and CV (max 3 pages) to Dr Amy Burge at managing.editor@jprstudies.org by 30 November 2024. In your covering letter, please outline why you are interested in the position, and any relevant experience.
